چکیده

Hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT) refers to a procedure in which hematopoietic stem cells are infused to restore bone marrow function in cancer patients who receive bone-marrowtoxic doses of cytotoxic drugs, with or without whole body radiation therapy. Stem cells may be obtained from the transplant recipient (autologous HSCT) or can be harvested from a donor (allogeneic HSCT). Stem cells may be harvested from bone marrow, peripheral blood, or umbilical cord blood shortly after delivery of neonates.

Feasibility of high-dose iodine-131-metaiodobenzylguanidine therapy for high-risk neuroblastoma preceding myeloablative chemotherapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: a study protocol

Objective(s): High-risk neuroblastoma is a childhood cancer with poorprognosis despite modern multimodality therapy. Internal radiotherapy using131I-metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) is effective for treating the disease even if it isresistant to chemotherapy. The aim of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacyof 131I-MIBG radiotherapy combined with myeloablative high-dose chemotherapyand...

Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation for Malignant Solid Tumors in Children

The prognosis of malignant solid tumors in children has been improved by multidisciplinary therapy involving surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. High-dose chemotherapy (HDC) followed by autologous (Auto) or allogeneic (Allo) hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has contributed significantly to improvements in the prognosis of high-risk chemosensitive tumors. It has been utilized i...

Advances in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Mobilization and Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation

Hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) which give rise to different blood cell types are present within the bone marrow microenvironment, especially in flat bones such as skull, vertebrae, pelvis and chest. Interacting factors such as stromal derived factor-1/CXCR4, very late antigen-4/vascular cell adhesion molecule-1, Lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1/ intercellular adhesion molec...

Consolidation treatment for high risk solid tumors in children with myeloablative chemotherapy and autologous hematopoietic progenitor stem cell transplantation

BACKGROUND In childhood cancer, consolidation treatment with chemotherapy followed by autologous hematopoietic progenitor stem cell transplantation is currently an accepted treatment modality in patients with high-risk solid tumors or in patients who have relapsed after conventional treatment. OBJECTIVES The objective of this study was to describe the results of transplantation of a group of ...

Combination of anti‐CD4 antibody treatment and donor lymphocyte infusion ameliorates graft‐versus‐host disease while preserving graft‐versus‐tumor effects in murine allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is not only a well-established immunotherapy for hematologic malignancies, but is potentially useful for treating solid tumors refractory to available therapies. However, application of allo-HSCT to solid tumors is limited, despite the beneficial antitumor effects, by the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). CD4+ T cells have b...
